Johanna B. Kelly is a Melbourne native, Filmmaker and multi-disciplinary Designer for feature films, music videos and commercials working in Melbourne & New York. Credits comprise producing, writing and directing award winning eco foodie documentary The Gateway Bug (84mins, USA) 2018, a feature film on global food security starring TV chef Andrew Zimmern that premiered at Santa Barbara Film Festival in 2017. And 7 indie feature films as Production Designer, including Like Lambs (86mins, USA) 2017, starring Liam Aiken and Justin Chon, shot on 35mm (Atlanta Film Festival & Boston Int. Film Festival). Currently Art Directing Chris Hemsworth's Centr fitness app videos, ads and in development on 2 film projects.
Prior to moving to NYC, Johanna was Exhibition Designer for the National Gallery of Victoria, Australia. Designing over 35 exhibitions including the record breaking Salvador Dali: Liquid Desire with over 332,000 visitors. Spearheading a sustainable materials program, and children specific labels and galleries, at both Fed Square and St Kilda Rd sites. Simultaneously earning a Masters Degree in Interior Design from RMIT University.
Working with Frieze Art Fair, in NYC 2014-2016, Johanna went on to design the 2017 IFPDA Print Fair in New York, coordinating it's move after 25 years from the Park Avenue Armory to the Javits Center. Later in the year Johanna took part as invited guest in Napa Valley Film Festival's 2017 "Artist-In-Residence" program at The Meadowood, Napa Valley, where The Gateway Bug was in core competition. Undertaking a series of Oscar-award-winner led masterclasses and taking part in Q&As on filmmaker panels. Currently screening on Emirates and Hong Kong Airlines, The Gateway Bug world premiered at Santa Barbara Int. Film Festival in 2017. Following the dramatic rise and fall of edible insect start-ups, exposing America’s disconnect with food as climate catastrophe, while uncovering daily habits people can change at home to fix our broken food system, one meal at a time. Screening at more than 40 int. film festivals, it's spent over 2 years on the festival circuit, receiving a:

- 'Best Environmental Documentary' at Melbourne Doc Film Fest
- Impact DOCS 'Award of Excellence', Bonita Springs Int. Film Fest ‘Audience Award’

And has enjoyed an educational run in schools across America, giving thousands of students from Minnesota, to Detroit, Santa Barbara, Vail and the Napa Valley, the chance to hear filmmaker Q&A stories, eat bugs and learn from watching.
